Practical Christian Spirituality II
(PCSII)
This course requires an enrolment keyPractical Christian Spirituality II focuses on the inward journey of renewal leading to the outward expression of a life of faith; it is aimed at the discovery of one’s unique spirituality in Christ and expressing it in the Christian community as it meets together and as it reaches out in love to the lost world.
Practical Christian Spirituality II has three foci:
Expressing our spirituality in the context of relationships. This takes students on a journey of self-understanding, enabling them to identify their unique personal S.H.A.P.E., and to use this as a basis for expressing their spirituality in relationships, as they experience mutual understanding, support and encouragement within the Christian community.
Renewing our spirituality in the context of the Christian community. This takes the students on a journey of discovery in which they learn about different models of Christian church expression, both historic and recent, different models of ministry and service within the local church, and different models of Christian mission. Students are challenged to identify where their unique S.H.A.P.E. tessellates with these expressions and models, with a view to their effective personal involvement in the life, ministry and mission of the Christian community.
Renewing our spirituality through personal faith disciplines. The three fundamental spiritual disciplines of discipleship, worship and prayer are addressed in this focus, challenging the student to engage in these disciplines with the goal of spiritual renewal for both self and other members of the Christian community.
This subject is designed to be studied as the natural extension of Practical Christian Spirituality I, but can be studied as a stand-alone unit.
